The dissolution of Parliament is illegal - the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka is back again
Colombo:
Political confusion has continued since President Sirisena removes Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in Sri Lanka and appoints Rajapaksa. Rajapaksa does not have enough support to prove the majority in parliament. President Sirisena has ordered the dissolution of the Parliament because it did not benefit from the efforts to pull the MPs. It was announced on January 5 that elections would be held on January 5.
13 bodies, including three major parties, filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the dissolution of the Parliament.
The petition also stated that President Sirisena's parliamentary dissolution should be declared illegal and ordered the parliament to act again.
In this case, the case came to the hearing today. A bench of seven persons inquired the case. Then the judges gave the same sort of judgment. Its description is as follows:
The Sri Lankan parliament has not dissolved. President Maithripala Sirisena's announcement that the Sri Lankan parliament would be crippled was in opposition to the Constitution. #SriLanka #SriLankaParliament
