The 17-year-old youngster, Vijayakanth Vysskant, Jaffna central college student, has been given this opportunity.
For the first time since the 40 years, a young Jaffna district youth team in the 19-year-old national cricket team has been linked to Sri Lanka Cricket.
Right-arm bowler, he represented the 19-year-old cricket team in the International Test cricket match.
He has been linked with the Sri Lanka Cricket team for the Asian Cup cricket match at the age of 19.
Commenting on the occasion, Vijayakanth said,
I am bowling from the team under the age of 15. After good academics, I showed the best talent in the school team. Then I was very impressed with the team under the age of 19.
I had the chance to come to Colombo through that talent. The trainers here are good training. It is different in Colombo than Jaffna.
Now I think my talent is growing rapidly.
I like to play cricket since childhood. I go to play cricket and play cricket.
More players from Jaffna have to be in the squad. When I came to Colombo, I got into trouble with language. However, my brothers taught Sinhala. I was very helpful because they were the only player from Jaffna. I learned Tamil.
He added that after all I had told my Jaffna friends that they were practicing Tamil and Sinhala, everyone was happy. For More Tamil Online News- http://www.tamilonp.com/ -செய்திகள் ,தமிழ் செய்திகள் தமிழ் ஆன்லைன் செய்திகள்
